YCCAJ Summer School 2024 was held at Toba Seaside Hotel.
Seven students from our laboratory made poster presentations. Mr. Kunikubo (M2) gave an oral presentation.
Mr. Kunikubo received the Presentation Award and BCSJ Award. Congratulations!!
The 103rd CSJ Annual Meeting was held at Tokyo University of Science. Students (D1, M1 and B4) from our lab made oral and poster presentations in the conference.
We also enjoyed sightseeing and a networking event.
Ph.D. students Mr. Sakaguchi and Mr. Taira, master students Mr. Maeda and Ms. Zhao and bachelor students Mr. Ikeda, Mr. Ura, Ms. Kawamura and Mr. Kunikubo were awarded their doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees, respectively. Congratulations!
Mr. Sakaguchi, Mr. Taira and Mr. Maeda will work in industry and Four bachelor students will start graduate school.

JSCC 72nd Annual Symposium was held at Kyushu University.
Prof. Sakai, Assoc.prof. Ozawa, Assist. prof. Yamauchi and Ms. Uchida managed and prepared for the conference. Prof. Sakai and Assist. prof. Yamauchi gave presentations in symposia. Besides, many students from our lab made poster or oral presentations, including bachelor students. We got many valuable ideas from professors and students, and learned a lot by participating the face to face conference.
Mr. Sakaguchi (D3) got Student Lecture Award. Congratulations!!
International Network on Polyoxometalate Science (INPOMS) held POM Electrochemistry Workshop at Newcastle University.
Mr. Taira (D3) and Mr. Tomita (M1) participated in the Workshop. They learned basic knowedge and methods of electrochemical measurements. They also enjoyed sightseeing in London after the workshop.
8th Asian Conference on Coordination Chemistry (ACCC8) was held in Taipei and online. Ms. Sueyoshi (M1), Mr. Tomita (M1), Mr. Kan (D1), Mr. Yan (D1), Mr. Taira (D3) and Mr. Sakaguchi (D3) made poster presentations online.
Mr. Kan (D1) received the best poster presentation award. Congratulations!
The 33rd Conference on Photochemistry of Coordination Compound was held online from the 5th to the 7th of August. Ms. Sueyoshi (M1), Mr. Kan (D1) and Mr. Yan (D1) made poster presentations.

A welcome picnic is held at “ZAUO” in Itoshima. In this time, we welcomed Ikeda-kun, Ura-kun, Kawamura-san, and Kunikubo-kun, as bachelor students, Goya-kun, and Lee Dongseb, as master students, and Liao Chen as a doctor student.
The new comers introduced themselves and their ambitions, and Dr. Sakai and other professors gave words of encouragement to the new students. We were all motivated to work even harder in our lab activities. It was a great time for us to enjoy fresh fish dishes from Itoshima.

Ph.D. students Aimoto, master students Kan, Ji, Kikunaga, Yan, Yamada, Yang, Wakafuji and bachelor students Sueyoshi, Tomita, Nakashima, and Suwa were awarded their doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees, respectively. Congratulations to all of you, and thank you for all your hard work!
Aimoto, Ji, Kikunaga, Yamada, Yang and Wakafuji will work in industry, Kan and Yan will continue their reseach as a doctoral student in our lab. Four bachelor students will continue their reseach in master course in our lab. Dr. Kuge also will leave to a new lab as a post-doctoral researcher.
For those of you who are going on to doctoral and master's programs, for those of you who are going to work in industruy, and for those of you who are going to pursue a career in academia,
we wish you all the best in your new location! Please keep in touch with us anytime. And, we are looking forward to meeting the new members and studying together from April.
We participated in the summer school organized by the Young Coordination Chemists' Association of Japan.
Due to the COVID-19, this event was held online this year, however, we spent a very meaningful time interacting with students from all over Japan who are conducting research in the coordination chemistry field.

It was the first time for them to make public presentations of their researches, so all three looked nervous.
The Question-and-answer session was as short as two minutes, but they would have felt it like a very long time. Great job!
After Defense of doctoral thesis ended successfully, we held a wrap-up party for D3 & M2 students!
We had a drinking party in the lab for the first time in a while and we enjoyed chatting and exchanging opinions!
Now it's time for the fourth grader to make a final push for the performance review meeting, so please work hard after this party!

Mr. Wakiyama was hurt, riding a bicycle while the public hearing was approaching and he was concerned about holding it.
Although, thanks to the high healing power of himself, the public hearing was made as scheduled!

Defense of master's thesis was held, and Mr. Akamine, Mr. Koga, Mr. Sakaguchi, Mr. Taira and
Mr. Yamakawa of the second year of the master course gave presentations!
Mr. Akamine, Mr. Koga and Mr. Yamakawa will be working professionals from next fiscal year,
and Mr. Sakaguchi and Mr. Taira will proceed to the doctoral program.
You may have more difficulties in the coming days, however, please take a break for now!
We participated in Kyushu University Energy Week 2020 held from January 27 to 31.

After the last seminar on 2019, we moved to Onyasai near the Kyudai-gakkentoshi station and hold an End-of-year Party!
It was all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat for 2 hours, however, 2 hours was not enough for us!

2019 is the 150th anniversary of Dmitri Mendelef's discovery of the periodic rule of the element,
The United Nations General Assembly has declared to celebrate 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Elements(IYPT2019).
It was also celebrated that Nihonium was the first new element from Japan and Asia.
Prof. Sakai of our lab attended the closing ceremony of IYPT2019, the official UNESCO-approved IUPAC event, held at Tokyo Prince Hotel on December 5th.
We participated in International Conference on Artificial Photosynthesis-2019(ICARP2019) in Hiroshima.
Mr. Aimoto got a poster prize! Congratulations!

We invited Prof. Shigeyuki Masaoka from Osaka University. On the intensive course, we acquired useful knowledge for studying Coordination Chemistry.
After the intensive course on the first day, we participated in his lecture.
