Participated in The 61st Peptide Symposium
The 61st Peptide Symposium was held at the Toyota Auditorium of Nagoya University (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture). Keita Nakamura, a second-year master’s student, gave a poster presentation on the topic of “Identification of a novel hormone response element for the enkephalin precursor gene”. This year, there was a two-day poster presentation period, so I was able to exchange opinions with many people. As all presentations at this conference were given in English, there were times when it was difficult to understand, but I was able to spend three very stimulating and fulfilling days

Participated in International Symposium on Halogen Bonding ISXB6.
Dr. Ayami Matsushima gave an invited lecture on halogen bonding in vivo at the International Symposium on Halogen Bonding (ISXB6) held at the Sheraton Hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia. She said she was tired because Dubrovnik is far from Japan, but it was a very fulfilling conference where she could hear about a wide range of research from organic synthesis to protein crystallography and AI structure prediction.

We received mid-year gifts.
We received mid-year gifts from our graduating seniors. We were all delighted by the wonderful gifts, including many confectionery items and high-quality ham. The ham was baked in the lab’s oven and everyone enjoyed it very much. We will continue to work hard together to cherish the various milestones while responding to the ever-changing situation as flexibly as a young bamboo. We would be very happy to receive your continued support. Thank you very much for your continued support.

Farewell party for graduates was held, and Dr. Ayami Matsushima came back from the Salk Institute.
After the achievement report meeting was over, the preparatory party was held at Hotel Okura Fukuoka. Over a sumptuous meal, participants enjoyed chatting with professors and students.
Also, Dr. Ayami Matsushima, who had been studying with Dr. Ronald Evans at the Salk Institute since January 1, 2024, returned on February 29, 2024.
She gave us chocolates as a gift and told us about her research life in the United States. We will continue to work hard together with Dr. Ayami Matsushima, who has surely grown up through his research life in the U.S.
